The Live Bridgerton Experience

The second season of the Bridgerton series was released around two weeks ago and it’s been having fans buzzing ever since. If you’re not familiar with the television series, it takes place during the 1800s Regency period in London. This time period consisted of lavish parties held by the English upper class. According to the New York Times, the creators of Bridgerton decided to bring the Netflix original series to life in Los Angeles, California.
When watching the show, viewers become connected to the characters whose lives ultimately revolve around debutante balls. The most extravagant debutante ball that is shown on the show is The Queen’s Ball. To mimic this ball in real life, “The Bridgerton Experience” was created and it takes place at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. This in-person show gives Bridgerton fans the opportunity to feel as if they are a part of the show. The live event includes many features of the series such as ballroom dancing, fancy costumes, and delicious assortments of food and beverages. Additionally, specific things from the series are included such as naming one individual the “...diamond of the evening”(Sperling). This marketing strategy has brought more attention to the Bridgerton series because diehard fans have made videos on apps such as TikTok. Diehard fans have made videos on apps such as TikTok. By having a live performance of a scene from the series, people are able to connect with the show on a different level compared to other shows that they may watch. From personal experience, I have watched both seasons of the show and now I am impatiently waiting for the third season to be released. I have seen the “Queen’s Ball Bridgerton Experience” on TikTok many times and it makes me want to fly out to California just to live through the show for a day. I can imagine that many other fans of the show would want to do this as well. Therefore, the live experience not only brings revenue in from existing watchers of the show but also new people as well. The Bridgerton Experience is very similar to amusement parks such as Disney World and Universal which allow for people to step into the shoes of their favorite characters of both tv shows and movies. To develop an event that no longer exists today is a great idea because people want to feel as if they were there and through this experience they can.
The Bridgerton experience “...costs between $49 and $99 to attend…”(Sperling), which generates on top of the series itself. The experience is opening in many more locations such as “Washington, Chicago and Montreal..”(Sperling). By showcasing this event in various places around the world, the series is able to capture a larger target audience.
